AmplifiedSpace Wins Colorado Grant for Space Power Innovation
LAFAYETTE, COLORADO, November 21, 2024 – AmplifiedSpace, a leader in new space power systems, has been awarded a $250,000 Early-Stage Capital and Retention grant from the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) through its Advanced Industries Accelerator program. The grant supports innovative companies like AmplifiedSpace in bringing transformative technologies to market, strengthening Colorado’s position as a leader in aerospace innovation.
The funding will accelerate AmplifiedSpace’s mission to make power systems accessible and adaptable for the next generation of spacecraft. By leveraging agile manufacturing practices and software-defined solutions, AmplifiedSpace is transforming an industry that has relied on slow, linear processes since the launch of Sputnik in the 1950s. AmplifiedSpace is breaking away from this legacy by introducing software-defined, modular power systems that reduce lead times from 12–24 months to just one month, enabling manufacturers to design missions without being constrained by rigid power systems.
“Currently, manufacturers design missions around the power system, not the other way around, leading to limited capabilities, slow production, and supply chain backlogs,” said Jerome Hittle, CEO at AmplifiedSpace. “We aim to resolve that by providing flexibility and rapid production capabilities without sacrificing reliability. Just like you don’t need to redesign your home’s power panel when you add a new appliance, our system should just work—and that’s what we want to deliver.”
The grant will support the development of AmplifiedSpace’s Power Management and Distribution Unit (PMAD) product and expand its catalog of software-defined power solutions. “This grant not only highlights Colorado’s dedication to fostering aerospace innovation but also strengthens our ability to deliver cutting-edge power systems that redefine what’s possible for space missions,” said Jamie Brandess, COO at AmplifiedSpace. “Our technology ensures faster lead times, cost efficiency, and resilience in the face of supply chain challenges, empowering our customers to achieve their goals without delays.”
As the company prepares for key product launches in 2025, AmplifiedSpace’s software-defined product line is set to unlock new mission capabilities, advance spacecraft power systems, and shape the future of space exploration.
